Palo Santo Uses and Benefits

Palo Santo - Bursera Graveolens, is more often known as the Sacred Wood or Wood of the Saints. A mystical tree, native to South America, it is related to Frankincense, Myrrh and Copal. As part of the citrus family, this aromatic wood releases hints of pine, lemon and mint and this may be the reason that indigenous tribes have used the rich, white smoke of Palo Santo in traditional healing and spiritual ceremonies for centuries allowing its invigorating, yet calming fragrance to cleanse and clear.
It is widely used during mindfulness meditation practices as a scent to connect with peace, relaxation and attunement to the higher vibrations.
The Palo Santo tree is a sacred plant that requires strict adherence to cultural guidelines during harvesting / collection. It can only be collected from “Pacha Mama” - “Mother Earth” only once the tree dies naturally. Further, it takes 3 to 5 years for the collected wood to mature in order to release its rich fragrant oils that are very distinct from other scents. Our Palo Santo sticks and powder is collected in adherence to all guidelines with approval from Peruvian Forest Management Plans.
