Devdar Stupa Incense Sticks - Box of 40

The Devdar grade uses the resinous heartwood of mature trees from the western Himalayas - typically harvested above 2,000m elevation, where the wood's oil concentration reaches its peak. Ground fine and bound with traditional Nepali aromatic binders. The dominant compounds are himachalol and α-himachalene, both named after Himachal Pradesh, the Indian state where the species is most abundant.

1. Hold the tip to a flame until it catches (5–10 seconds).
2. Blow the flame out so the stick smoulders.
3. Place in an incense holder on a heat-safe surface.
4. The citric opening arrives in the first minute; the resinous warmth develops across the burn.
5. Allow ash to cool fully before clearing.

Burns approximately 15–20 minutes per stick.

Cedrus deodara is the only Cedrus species native to the Indian subcontinent - the genus's other three members grow across the Mediterranean (C. libani, C. atlantica, C. brevifolia). Deodar is also the largest of the four; mature trees reach 50m and live over a thousand years. The Sanskrit name devdaru appears in the earliest Indian texts; the wood has been used for aromatic and structural purposes across the western Himalayas for at least three thousand years.
