Austha Suganda Incense - 15 Sticks Tube

Austha Suganda is the transliteration of the Sanskrit aṣṭa sugandha, literally "eight fragrances" - a recipe family in the wider South Asian aromatic tradition built around the layering of eight named aromatic materials rather than the elaboration of a single primary species. The convention is several centuries old in South Asian aromatic and prepared-incense traditions; different workshops produce different specific lists of the eight.

The Stupa workshop's Austha Suganda is one specific interpretation of the recipe family - eight aromatic materials layered into a single complex blend, hand-rolled into bamboo-less sticks in the Kathmandu Valley. The defining characteristic against the single-species blends elsewhere in the range is the multi-register aromatic arc that the eight-material composition produces over the burn.

Character on the burn. The blend opens with brighter top notes - florals and aromatic woods reading first. The middle minutes carry the woody and resinous middle register, with the secondary materials filling out the body of the burn. The closing minutes settle into the deepest balsamic and earthy register. More layered and sustained across the 30-minute burn than the single-species blends; an aromatic narrative rather than a single statement.

1. Take a stick from the tube.
2. Hold the tip to a flame for 5–10 seconds until it catches.
3. Blow out the flame - the stick smoulders.
4. Place in the included holder on a heat-safe surface.
5. The stick burns for approximately 30 minutes.

Burn in a well-ventilated room. Multi-register blends benefit from a single-stick session - the layered aromatic arc is the point.
