Na Swa Incense Sticks - Box of 40

Na Swa is the workshop's name for a specific Newari blend - the aromatic tradition of the indigenous people of the Kathmandu Valley, whose incense recipes developed independently of the broader Indian plains tradition. The blend layers Himalayan woods, resins, and aromatic herbs in proportions that have been passed within the workshop's family across generations. Specific ingredients are workshop-protected; the result opens soft and resinous, then develops into a deeper woody middle as the burn progresses.

1. Hold the tip to a flame until it catches (5–10 seconds).
2. Blow the flame out so the stick smoulders.
3. Place in an incense holder on a heat-safe surface.
4. The citric opening arrives in the first minute; the resinous warmth develops across the burn.
5. Allow ash to cool fully before clearing.

Burns approximately 15–20 minutes per stick.

The Newari people are the indigenous inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley - the cultural and aromatic tradition that developed in the valley long before the modern state of Nepal existed. The valley's altitude (1,400m) and unique microclimate produced an incense lineage distinct from both the Indian plains tradition to the south and the Tibetan plateau tradition to the north - a hybrid register that draws on both but resolves into something local.
