Karma Lokta Rope Incense Bundle

The Saang blend. Saang is the Nepali name for the Himalayan juniper-led aromatic mix that anchors several products in the wider Kathmandu workshop range. The supplier identifies the blend's components as Himalayan juniper, Himalayan cedar, sandalwood, and a small set of warm spices. Juniper (Juniperus recurva or J. squamata) is the bright top register; Cedrus deodara sits underneath as the structural cedar; sandalwood adds the soft woody body; the warm spices fill out the middle register.

The shared Saang material. The same Saang aromatic anchors the Dorjee stick tube in the wider Stupa workshop range - both products are built around the juniper-led Himalayan blend, presented in different formats. The rope here is the longer-burning, more sustained format; the Dorjee stick is the shorter, more punctual format. A household running both gets the same aromatic character in two different burn lengths.

The Lokta-paper carrier. Lokta paper is handmade from the inner bark of the Daphne papyracea shrub native to the Himalayan foothills - produced in the Kathmandu Valley for over a thousand years. The paper wraps the ground botanicals and is twisted along its length to form a thin twine-like rope.

Character on the burn. Opens with the juniper's bright evergreen - sharper and more terpene-forward than cedar alone. The middle minutes carry the cedar and sandalwood layered together with the warm spices reading underneath. The close is warm-resinous with a faint spiced edge. More layered than the single-species ropes in the cluster; the workshop's most compositionally complex rope.

1. Take a single rope from the bundle.
2. Hold one end to a flame for 8–12 seconds until it catches.
3. Blow out the flame - the rope smoulders along its length.
4. Place the lit end on a flat heat-safe burner surface; the rope burns horizontally.
5. The rope burns slowly from the lit end inward.
6. Allow the burner and remaining ash to cool fully before disposal.

Burn in a well-ventilated room. The Saang blend has more room-presence than the single-species ropes; one rope is enough for a mid-sized room. Store the bundle in a cool, dry place.
