True Myrrh (Commiphora Myrrha) Yemen

Hand-tapped Commiphora myrrha from the highlands of Yemen - small thorny trees that release an amber gum when their bark is cut, drying into the dark reddish-brown chunks the trade has called myrrh for three thousand years. Dense, balsamic, slightly bitter on the nose. The Arabic name murr means "bitter" - the same root carries through Aramaic and Akkadian. The name is the description.

1. Light a charcoal disc until edges glow grey-white (30–45 seconds).
2. Place a single piece on the warm charcoal.
3. The aroma is slow to release - wait the first minute, then the bitter-balsamic depth opens steadily.
4. Let the burner cool fully before clearing.
