Incense Stick Holder – Shankh

Free UAE delivery on orders over AED 250
Hand-carved soapstone in the form of a shankh - the Sanskrit name for the conch shell. The piece references the Indian or chank shell (Turbinella pyrum) that has been carved and decorated across the Indian Ocean trade region for at least three thousand years, with the natural spiral chamber of the conch translated into stone.
Soapstone (mineralogical name steatite) is the carver's stone - soft enough to follow the conch's complex curves, dense enough to hold the form indefinitely, heat-resistant enough to function as an incense base. Each piece is unique; the natural mineral inclusions produce individual character.
As a holder, the form provides a small recessed area for the stick with the broader carved surface catching falling ash. Compact and sculptural, made for daily use.

A contemporary house of ancient materials
Maison Éthérique brings together incense, aromatic resins, botanical bundles, crystals and the objects used with them. From our house in Dubai, we explore their aromas, stories and traditions - a collection for personal rituals, familiar favourites and gifts with meaning.
For the meaning it holds
A familiar aroma can become part of a daily ritual. A stone can be kept as a symbol of protection; a botanical chosen for a practice of purification. Across the collection, scent, beauty and personal meaning offer different reasons to choose.
