Sodalite - small tumble-polished stones of deep navy veined with white, the mineral kin of lapis lazuli: the blue without the gold. Smooth in the hand, sold in a small set. From Brazil.

It is a sodium aluminium silicate carrying chlorine in its lattice; lazurite, the blue of lapis, belongs to the same mineral group, so the two are true kin. The white veining is calcite.

Described in 1811 from Greenland and named for its sodium. It carries no pyrite, so no gold flecks - navy against lapis’s ultramarine. Softer than quartz at Mohs 5.5–6: keep from soaking, spare hard knocks.

A contemporary house of ancient materials

Maison Éthérique brings together incense, aromatic resins, botanical bundles, crystals and the objects used with them. From our house in Dubai, we explore their aromas, stories and traditions - a collection for personal rituals, familiar favourites and gifts with meaning.

For the meaning it holds

A familiar aroma can become part of a daily ritual. A stone can be kept as a symbol of protection; a botanical chosen for a practice of purification. Across the collection, scent, beauty and personal meaning offer different reasons to choose.
